Construction on Officer District Park has Commenced!

We are thrilled to provide an update on the latest gem in Cardinia – Officer District Park! This expansive green space is set to become the heartbeat of the community, offering a haven for recreation, relaxation, and community connection.

Located off Lansell Avenue in Officer, less than a 10 minute drive from the Banyan Place community, will sit the 10-hectare Officer District Park. The park will include a regional-level skate and BMX facility, walking tracks, a downhill mountain board track, parkour and more delivered across different stages of construction. The precinct will also include a cafe, wetlands, a boardwalk, and a nature play and lookout area, where you can take in the very best views of Officer.

Works on Stage 1 of Officer District Park are now officially underway after the contractor for the Stage 1 works has been awarded. The Stage 1 construction works will include the following:

1. Play and Recreation for All Ages: The park will be a multi-level playground haven, featuring two 20m-long embankment slides and a variety of play zones, experiences, and state-of-the-art facilities catering to all age groups. From modern play equipment for the little ones to sports facilities for the more active members of the community, Officer District Park ensures there’s something for everyone. Get ready for a range of activities that promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
2. Cardinia Shire’s first purpose-built Parkour Zone: For the energised kids and adults alike, this course will incorporate a mixture of obstacles of different heights, angles, and shapes. This space will allow users of all ages and abilities to create their own moves and motion through the space.
3. Fitness stairs and equipment: The community’s desire for their very own Rocky-esque running stairs for fitness purposes has been recognised after the community consultation and has been incorporated into the design of Officer District Park. Your training game and overall fitness appeal of this park does not stop there and also includes a 1km loop track which runs around the hillside incorporating several exercise equipment stations along the way.
4. Trails and Pathways: For those who love to explore on foot or bike, the park will provide an extensive network of trails and pathways. Meander through the natural landscapes, enjoying the fresh air and scenic views. It’s the perfect way to stay active while immersing yourself in the beauty of the surroundings.
5. The pinnacle of Officer District Park: A lookout platform from the top of the hillside will allow the community to appreciate the amazing views over the southern part of the Shire and out to Western Port.

6. Community Spaces: A vibrant community needs spaces to come together, and Officer District Park delivers. Whether you’re planning a picnic with friends, a family gathering, or a community event, the park will offer well-maintained spaces where connections can be fostered and memories created, including conveniently placed Public Toilets and picnic facilities constructed at the central plaza area.
7. The centre piece: A wetland area and a path circling the water to allow visitors to interact more closely with the wetland will be constructed. Mindfulness signage will be incorporated to encourage people to be present in the moment and take time to nurture their mental health and enjoy the calming effects of water on a busy mind.

8. Dog-Friendly Zone: We understand the importance of including every member of the family, and that includes our four-legged friends. Officer District Park features a dedicated dog-friendly zone where your furry companions can run, play, and socialize in a safe and welcoming environment.
